SAFER FOOD BETTER BUSINESS

Digital daily records to use alongside Safer Food Better Business

Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) is the Food Standards Agency's free pack for small food businesses. Kitchens rarely fall down on the pack itself — it's the daily diary: checks missed, pages filled in later, sheets lost. PassReady keeps those daily records on a phone or tablet, time-stamped with who did them.

PassReady is from Resilient Platforms Ltd.

PassReady isn't made or endorsed by the Food Standards Agency. Keep your SFBB pack (or CookSafe in Scotland, or another food safety management system) — PassReady is where the day-to-day records live alongside it.

Where the SFBB diary usually goes wrong

  • Opening and closing checks ticked off in a batch at the end of the week.
  • Temperature readings written up from memory.
  • The diary left in the office when the EHO asks for it.
  • Four-weekly reviews skipped because nobody can see the problems at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need my SFBB pack?

Yes, or another food safety management system. PassReady keeps your daily records; it doesn't replace the pack's safe methods.

Is SFBB a legal requirement?

The law requires a food safety management system based on HACCP principles. SFBB is a free way for many small businesses to meet that. In Scotland, CookSafe plays the same role.

Will this get me a 5 rating?

No software can promise a rating. Good, up-to-date records help show the EHO how you manage food safety, which is one of the three things they score.
